I really thought that most folks understood this was all political theater - unlike the $700 Billion for lenders who screwed up by the numbers, intentionally disregarding sound financial management rules. The chances of Hope for Homeowners helping are almost exactly equal to you having been through Death of a Primary Breadwinner, Disability, or Divorce, and even in those situations, loan modification is probably going to help at least as much, if not more.
Hope for Homeowners is political theater. Don't bank on it helping you.
